Beale Street Music Festival 2017

It happens every year. First weekend of May. Like a peacock boasting it's beautiful feathers, Memphis reveals one of her many beautiful sides: Beale Street Music Fest. Ask anyone and they'll tell you how the grounds will be nothing but a pigsty because "it always rains." They don't care though. That's why the Bass Pro Pyramid sells rain boots. This year Mother Nature had other plans for us. This year was going to be different entirely.
If you're not aware already, Beale Street Music Fest is always talked about for being one of the best value festivals. This year it made Everfest's Top 300 festivals in the WORLD. It's one of the many reasons you'll see folks from all over coming to Memphis for the party.
From the venue to the lineup, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one out there. Sure, you can find higher profile lineups all over the country for example at Bonnaroo, Cochella, Lollapalooza, etc but that's not what this festival is about. This festival has always garnered much praise from the artists for their love of Memphis and what it means to their careers. What other festival can say it offers music and sunsets over the Mississippi River? Nothing more perfect.
This year was no different than years past. The bill featured top artists such as Sturgill Simpson, Tori Kelly, Wiz Khalifa, Kings of Leon, MGMT and Death Cab for Cutie. It played host to familiar faces to the festival in Widespread Panic, Ben Harper, and Snoop Dogg. A hidden gem is the Blues tent which serves as a reminder that Memphis still has it's character in full effect.
This is not a write-up to debate who was the best. I have my opinion and the 100K folks in attendance this weekend will have theirs. One thing we can all agree on: for under $100 for the weekend you can't beat Beale Street Music Festival and every year they lay waste to any that try. Long live BSMF and Long Live Memphis! I could've used one more Pronto Pup smothered in Mustard.
... Until next year when we do this all again.  Cheers!
This is a review blog so I guess I'll have to put it on a scale:
9/10 - Can y'all do a fall festival too? Sheesh.
